|LINDSAY'S SONG NOTES:||Order
|After my sons Jesse and Devon where born, Darlene and I found ourselves
like most parents, introducing them to "kids music".
We would play them mixtures of various recordings by children's entertainers
of that time. This particular field seems to be growing by the day.
After a while I found myself inspired to try my own hand at writing songs
specifically for children.
I found this a wonderful liberating experience. I was able to let my imagination
go wild. Songs about duck-billed platypuses, dancing hippos, singing elephants
I also tried to create a few with some educational value too. "The Vowel Song"
"Idiosyncrasies" for example.
After playing rough demos of these tunes for the amusement of my own growing
children, for a number of years, they were eventually filed away in a drawer.
Two years ago I recorded a cd (Christmas is for) "kids", with a bunch of kids from my neighbourhood. This turned out to be extremely successful. Not only did it sell at Christmastime, but continued on throughout the following year. Many libraries throughout the United States added it to their catalogs. It also is played on Galaxie's "Kids Music" channel.
This prompted me to dig out the demos I had written, and re-record them properly, once again, using various talented children from our neighbourhood, led by Dianne Leith. See their names in the credits below.
I almost forgot. I also used a few grown-ups too.
Gary McLaughlin painted the fantastic cover. He is known for incredible
hockey tribute paintings, you may remember the ones that adorned the Tim Horton’s mugs here in Canada. His work has been featured on many "Harlequin” romance novel covers. Please check out his website.
I do hope that not only children find these tunes enjoyable, but that some of the songs such as "Elvis The Elephant". Bring a smile to the faces of mom and dad too.
Note: I felt that "Jesse's Song" belonged at the end of this cd, even though it was
previously released on "The Shore" in 2004. I hope you agree.
