RICHARD HOWELL - LINDSAY - JOHN PATTERSON
When LINDSAY first started taking an interest in music, 'SKIFFLE' was one of the most popular forms of 'GARAGE' music in the UK back then. In his early teens LINDSAY would get together at his friend's garage and play everything from LONNIE DONEGAN to "THE EVERLY BROTHERS". One of those friends was JOHN PATTERSON." Basically, JOHN was the leader, because he was the one with a "REAL", instrument (GUITAR), and could play better than anyone else", says LINDSAY. "Everyone else had home made instruments, WASHBOARD, GUT BASS (Broom Handle and Mom's Up-turned Tub), and I made myself a UKEKELE." "After much discussion, when I was 14, my parents bought me my first guitar for a Christmas present, and I believe they regretted it for the rest of their lives".
'MY FIRST GUITAR'
17 YEARS OLD IN PAIGNTON, SOMERSET
JOHN and LINDSAY, loved singing LONNIE DONEGAN, Folk, Gospel and Rock songs of that day, especially "THE EVERLY BROTHERS".
The first time "JOHN PATTERSON AND LINDSAY MORGAN" performed 'LIVE' was at a CARDIFF, club for teens, called "THE SATURDAY CLUB". They sang a couple of gospel songs they had learned from a JOHNNIE DUNCAN record, and ELVIS PRESLEY'S "PEACE IN THE VALLEY'" EP. This started a busy time for them which culminated in an invitation to record for LIVINGSTON RECORDINGS, a LONDON based record company, that recorded and released gospel music under the HERALD label.
